Capacity Building for Membership Programme The role of the church is to bring transformation to the society in its spiritual,

the provision of holistic service and ministry to the communities. For the church

need for her capacities to be built and enhanced. The Council has thus designed
and implements various initiatives aimed at building the capacities of the member
churches and organizations to enable them fulfill their individual and collective
missions. Objective of CBM To facilitate the enhancement of membership’s institutional capacity
for effectiveness and efficiency in their work and service delivery. Thematic Areas To achieve this objective, the initiatives developed under CBM are undertaken
through five thematic areas: b. Social Services Projects and Programmes d. Family and Community Health Recognizably, the church in Kenya is endowed with resources whose potential

in the accomplishment of the great commission. To support the churches to tap
these resources, the Council develops customized interventions aimed at promoting

Social Services Projects and Programmes
In sharing the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ, the church is mandated to respond to the social economic needs of the people with the aim of resolving issues of dehumanization, inequality and poverty. This mandate demands that the churches in Kenya are endowed with the capacity to initiate and manage community-based projects that will effectively address the people’s felt needs.
In this regard, the Council develops initiatives through which the member churches are empowered to challenge and influence systems and policies, engage in effective advocacy and initiate community based projects.
Activities by the Council are aimed at building the skills of the member churches in managing interventions throughout the entire project cycle.

Despite the realization that the culture and beliefs of a people are encapsulated in and passed through their education system, this crucial services has over the years become a preserve of the rich in Kenya. So pervasive has it been that despite the introduction of Free Primary Education, many children do not access quality and relevant education. The influx that followed the introduction of the FPE has not been matched with proportionate investments in infrastructural development, provision of learning materials and hiring of teachers.
Further, there continues to be an over-emphasis on formal education at the expense of Technical, Industrial Vocational Enterpreneurial Training (TIVET) sector, meaning that students who leave school are not enabled to engage in economic activities unless they get jobs in the formal sector. This perpetuates poverty among the people, making them vulnerable to political manipulation.
In responding to these challenges, the Council responds by providing scholarships to bright but disadvantaged students in addition to advocacy for provision of adequate resources to the education sector.
