Eldoret, Sunday December 19, 2011
The General Secretary Rev Canon Peter Karanja has commended member churches that have instituted democratic succession processes.
While preaching at the induction of a new Moderator for the Reformed Church of East Africa Rev Musa Maina on Sunday, the General Secretary appreciated leaders who have mentored and handed over leadership peacefully.
He noted that most member churches of the National Council of Churches of Kenya have set high s

“I want to congratulate you for allowing others to come in exercise their gifts,” he told the outgoing Executive Committee members of the RCEA during the induction service held in Eldoret.
The General Secretary said the Church as a custodian of morality should be able to demonstrate sound governance processes including change of leadership.
The new leadership of the RCEA was elected through a transparent, democratic and fair process.

Canon Karanja welcomed the Rev Maina to the leadership of NCCK where he will represent his church in the Executive Committee.
“NCCK will be richer because you have come,” he said.
In his sermon Canon Karanja urged Church leaders to use their position to enrich the people of God and not to benefit themselves selfishly.
“You have not been called to be a ceremonial head, to preside over official matters. You have been called to minister to the hearts of God's people,” he said.
