OFFICE OF THE DEPUTY GENERAL SECRETARY

The Deputy General Secretary is the principal assistant to the General Secretary. His office also facilitates the theological aspects of overall Council work.

Towards this, the DGS facilitates the membership of the Council to be theologically engaged in order that they will remain relevant to the socio-cultural, economic and political realities of the society. Key engagements by this office include promotion of development of appropriate curricular for theological training within the membership, in addition to encouraging churches to strengthen their children, persons with disabilities and youth ministries.

Objectives

• To deputize the general secretary in providing overall strategic leadership
• To develop Biblical and theological basis for Council's engagement on contemporary issues

Activities

• Deputize and support the General Secretary
• Assist in the articulation and interpretation of the Council's vision and mission
• Assist in giving leadership, enhancing and maintaining the prophetic role of the Council in its social political context
• Accompany membership in relational matters
• Provide theological basis for Council's thematic areas
• Carry out research and study on specific theological issues affecting spiritual welfare of Kenyans
• Provide education and resource materials on specific theological issues
• Organize zonal reflection sessions on Contemporary issues
• Develop IEC materials with theological basis on contemporary issues
• Develop and maintain a database on theological institutions
• Facilitate consultations among theological institutions
• Facilitate conferences for theological institutions
• Facilitate National consultations to lobby and advocate for relevant and appropriate curriculum for theological training
• Facilitate zonal refresher courses for ministers
• Strengthen Bible study programmes by facilitating courses on Bible study
